These days renewable energy is all around us and it has never been easier to build your own fully functioning DIY solar panel. There are a number of guides available which fully illustrate how to construct and implement your own working panels and on a budget of only around $100 using a number of materials which you likely have lying around your home or garage already. Constructing a DIY solar panel to create your own renewable energy is not only good for the environment but it is also very lucrative so consider these 5 ways you can make money by making the simple switch to embracing natural energy.

Making your own solar and wind power for less than $200

Utility Costs – This first point may sound obvious, but when you keep in mind that according to a recent survey the average American was estimated to spend $2500 annually to power their homes, this is something which you cannot overlook. People who use a DIY solar panel to create enough renewable energy to sustain their energy needs for a full month are said to “live off the grid” because these people no longer rely on the power company, thus saving themselves all of that money for a full year.

Abundance of Energy – If you create more energy than you consume in a given month you can sell every bit of it back to the power company for a tidy profit as the government pays them to buy it from you. Many Americans use this to generate a healthy and reliable no effort stream of income this way. For this reason it is a good idea to construct multiple panels to increase your output exponentially.

Tax Cuts – The government also rewards homeowners who create and rely on their own natural energy from their DIY solar panels in the form of tax breaks. This is because these homeowners are helping to alleviate the greater energy crisis, so keep that in mind.

Go Commercial – To have these tools professionally built and installed costs roughly $3000, meaning that people are willing to spend good money to create their own energy. Keeping in mind that you can build your own panels using a DIY solar panel guide, many homeowners who have built panels for themselves have gone on to build others to give to friends and relatives, but also to sell on a home based business level and bring in a very attractive supplemental income.

Home Value – When it comes time to sell your home you’ll want to keep in mind that homes which come with solar paneling are worth significantly more than homes without it. This is again because other homeowners are looking for the exact same things as you when it comes time to buy a home, so remember to ask your realtor about this and mention it.

Years ago, no one ever thought that solar powered vehicles are even possible. There are solar-powered calculators or solar batteries that can run small devices but as for solar-powered car engines, many have remained skeptical until they finally saw actual vehicles that run on the energy of the sun created for exhibits in various science and technology fairs. These days, many are already considering on the possibility that, in the next couple of years, mass-market solar powered vehicles will be available to consumers in replacement for the ones that run on oil fuel.

These days, one can see solar powered vehicles in engineering demonstrations and solar car race events.

Cost-efficient

Solar-powered vehicles are, without a doubt, more cost-efficient than the typical cars that run on oil fuel. After all, these cars harness energy from something that is abundant ‘ the energy from the sun. So long as the sun shines, these cars should be able to run just as efficiently as any other type of vehicle. Because they run on solar power, these vehicles will also enjoy higher mileage and longer life spans according to most experts. Solar powered vehicles offer a lot of benefits to the potential consumers who would be willing to invest on such cars.

While solar powered vehicles are not yet practical day-to-day transportation devices, it’s only a matter of time before they actually get introduced into the market.

How they work

Solar powered vehicles literally run on the energy coming from the sun. They follow the same idea as that of other solar-powered devices such as calculators or batteries. The surface of the car has solar panels that collect solar energy. Photovoltaic cells installed in the vehicle work to convert this energy into electrical energy that the engine will need to run the car. In theory, solar powered vehicles will only run when the sun is present. However, numerous studies are now being conducted with regards to the creation of energy trapping components that will enable the car to store enough energy for it to run even at night.

Design

The design of solar powered vehicles is largely limited by solar batteries that are installed in it. Most cars that run on the sun’s energy are designed to be lightweight. Every component shouldn’t weigh as much as the ones that you would typically find in conventional cars. They do have practically the same basic parts that traditional vehicles have. You will find brakes and accelerators in them. Some even come with cruise control.

Challenges

With solar powered vehicles, the current challenge is to create a process or a mechanism that is capable of harnessing solar energy efficiently even on places with a relatively smaller surface area such as cars roofs. Solar cells are usually effective on buildings because they are always exposed to the sun’s heat. Cars will warrant more attention on this area to create efficient solar powered vehicles that can be used just like cars that run on oil fuel.

The greatest thing about solar power is that it has an unlimited potential. Contrary to the popular belief, learning how to make your own solar power is pretty uncomplicated. You just need to know how to make your own renewable energy source and today I am going to tell you precisely how to go about making your own solar power.

Before learning how to make your own solar power, you will have to learn some basics on how exactly do solar panels work. This way, the whole process will be much easier to handle.

The procedure starts with solar modules. They are the key components exposed directly to sunlight. Their primary use is to convert the sun light into electrical power that can be utilized by home appliances. To have them properly installed, solar modules are to be placed on a steel frame and positioned on your roof top.
Power generated by the solar modules is transformed from Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) via an inverter. Generally, Alternating Current (AC) is the electric power needed to power common home appliances.

Next, the electrical power transfers from the inverter to the electrical service panel. The electrical service panel is used to distribute the electrical power to different parts of your house or office for consumption.

The unused electrical power produced by the solar panels will then be brought into the grid all the way through the utility electric meter. As a result, the meter will be made to spin backwards and this establishes a credit with the utility company in offsetting future usage. This method is known as Net Metering and is permitted by State Level Electricity Policy.

Learning how to make your own solar power isn’t really a complicated task. You don’t need many skills beyond being able to handle wiring & basic tools with care and safety measures.

The raw materials required for making solar panels include:-

1. Solar Cells
2. Clear PVC Sheeting
3. Sheet Plywood
4. General Tools (Drills, screwdrivers, woodwork glue etc)
5. Copper Wire

All these raw materials can be easily bought pretty cheaply from the local electrical store. Photovoltaic cell is the only raw material that you might have to search online and it can be found easily on eBay.

Quality instructions that are easy to follow are essential to find when trying to build your own solar panels. This will make the building process less stressful and make you happier that you made the choice to do it yourself. Online is just one of the places you are able to find some of these manuals. We have reviewed the best guides available to help you to learn how to build your own solar panel system for electricity. Go ahead and check them out NOW……learn how to make your own solar power and STOP paying for electricity…FOREVER!

Wine and Chocolate Create Solar Power

August 28, 2010 by

What do you get when you mix chocolate and wine? In the case of Clean Solar, Inc., you get solar. Silicon Valley Entrepreneur, Randy Zechman, is the founder of City Chocolate Fountains (the largest chocolate fountain rental company in the United States). Jeff Ritchey is a San Jose native and wine guru. He is a wine consultant for Pichetti Winery, San Saba winery, and has two of his own labeled wines. Together, they are the co-founders of Clean Solar, a Silicon Valley solar installer and integrator.

Randy Zechman will readily admit that he is a serial entrepreneur. Just over a year ago, with two successful businesses in his portfolio: City Chocolate Fountains and World 2 Do, Inc., Zechman was ready for a new challenge. Zechman and a friend of eight years, Jeff Ritchey, an award-winning winemaker, regularly attended a monthly Bay Area speaker series with a group of friends. After every speaker they would end up at a local restaurant debating the subject matter of that night’s speech, global warming and the health of the earth were often the center of those debates, which resulted in them seeing Al Gore speak at the State of the Valley conference in early 2007.

After seeing Al Gore speak on solutions for protecting our planet, Zechman began to research the solar power industry. Ritchey, while continuing to grow his label, Sensorium Wines, was also showing increased interest in the green movement, realizing that green technology was an ideal fit with his knowledge in geology, winemaking and construction.

Zechman knew that the scientific and construction skill set that Ritchey could bring to the table would be the perfect compliment to his business and marketing skills, which led him to approach Ritchey about starting a solar power company.

Zechman and Ritchey met weekly for 6 months, discussing the in and outs of the business and making sure that their ambitions would not get in the way of their friendship. “We had a heart to heart regarding our friendship versus business. We both believed we could manage both and that our friendship would not get in the way.” says Zechman.

“We’ve been friends for eight years and never thought about getting into business with each other, but this presented the right opportunity. With the market timing, our passion for doing something good, Randy’s sales and marketing experience and my technical and construction abilities, we figured it was a natural fit.” says Ritchey.

Clean Solar Inc. quickly became a reality and is now the Bay Area’s leading solar installation company. The fuel for their business growth is in the form of state rebates through the 10 year, $3.4 billion California Solar Initiative. While silicon is still in short supply, the rebates offer customers a chance to significantly lower the installation cost of a solar power system. Zechman and Ritchey are committed to staying ahead of the curve and being early adopters of new solar technology as it comes on line. “We want the Clean Solar team to stay abreast of the latest advancements in technology, maintain certifications, and educate ourselves in order to provide our customers with the knowledge they need as a solar owner.” says Zechman.

If you are wondering that why would someone want to waste their time and energy to build a solar panel when they can just easily hiring a contractor to do all the dirty work for them, the reason is simple, the cost. Buying a pre-built panel and the fees of the installation can easily cost any house holder thousands of dollars.

It is clear that not every house holder actually afford with that kind of fee. And that is why building their own solar panel is the best approach for every house holder because the amount of money they need to build one are a lot cheaper and more affordable for average house holder.

Admit tingly, they still can save their money if they hired a contractor to do it for them (if they are affordable) but how long does they intend to wait to get back their initial investment before they can start to enjoy the benefit from their own solar system panel? One year? Two years?

Either way, it is just too long. Since a home made solar panel cost less to build one, it would be snap for the owner to get back their investment back in 2 or 3 months and enjoy the benefit for the following months.

If you have no idea on how a solar panel can help you to save money, then you should know about it for now. A running solar panel will harness the power of the solar and convert it into a form of electricity that will power your house for every day. If your house appliances are using your own electricity instead of the power company, it would be logical that you would pay less for power bills for next month. Just imagine that if you are paying 50% less of your average power bills for every month. You are literally saving over thousands of dollars after one year.

Building a solar panel is not impossible task for regular people as the whole process does not involved with any complex mechanism or calculation to make it. As long as someone is willing to take action, to learn, can read and follow instructions, they are qualified to attempt this project.

Getting a reliable home study course is important, especially the one which comes with photo illustrations and video tutorials as a visual learning can easily help and enhance the beginner’s learning progress.
